Penang is a large island in Northern Malaysia that has become quite a popular tourist destination. As you can see from the photos, for me, it is mainly an eating story 🙂 I have to say that Penang has the best food in the world of all my travels thus far. There is abundant Malay, Indian, Western and Chinese food, my personal favourite. I have added many foods to my top 100 list from Penang 🙂
Besides the food, two sites stand out for me, Kek Lok Si temple and Penang Hill. Kek Lok Si Chinese Buddhist temple is large, colourful and ornate, a real feast for the eyes both in the daytime and when it is lit up at night. Penang Hill rises impressively giving a great panaromic view of the area and cool respite from the Malaysian sun. You can take a fun cable car to the top or if you are feeling strong it is about a four hour hike up. It is a wonderful spot to catch the sunset and watch the city light up.
They say the way to man’s heart is through his stomach and I have to agree because I do love Penang now and could see myself spending much time with her in future.
