I was looking for a better external storage solution and came across this darling, the Transcend 350 240 GB SSD. Being an SSD (solid-state drive) means no moving parts inside which should surely last longer than the old-style spinning disks. It was on a wicked sale at London Drugs, around one third the regular price. . I suspect at 240 GB it was too small to be in high demand but it is more than enough for my needs.
It is the first device I have used with a USB-C type connection and let me tell you, I am amazed at how fast the data can be transferred with it. It seemed like in the blink of an eye, most of the data on my laptop could be copied across. I definitely recommend using USB-C when you can. This hard drive also has the regular old USB option but I think it operates at about one tenth of the speed.
Cost
The drive cost $55.49 (CDN) total on sale at London Drugs
